Pasted Dreams

This is one of my projects for my painting and drawing class! We studied the fantastic Romare Bearden and his work. He focused on the art of collages, so this is what we did! This project was very fun and eye opening for me. It showed me some really cool art can come out of letting go and not focusing on being a perfectionist. This piece is showing my goals for myself in the future.I developed the idea through my dreams in life. I would love to live in a beautiful city and be a writer. I want to write about the things that i love or write things that make people really think and or make them feel as if they can find comfort in the words that I write, to feel they aren't alone that is my goal! Along with this I would like to have a great healthy mind-set and self-love. With that being said I went withe the city made of writings and music followed by a tissue papered sunset along with the unfinished hands reaching for the sun. The hands holding the sun is a symbol of a bright, great, and healthy mind set. They are showing me reaching towards that goal and that is something i have not fully accomplished yet so it s unfinished. There is another aspect of me that is supposed to symbolize me in the future working at a desk writing, who knows what i can be writing about. It is also unfinished for the same reason of it not being 100% full filled yet!

  1. I adore how magical this piece is. It is the mot representative so far and has the most personal meaning that I can tell. I love your use of making the piece itself an oxymoron. Great insight.

  2. I love you perfectly shows your dreams in this piece and how the sky is texture and colorful whereas everything else is in black and white. I also like how you choice to draw the hand instead of just getting a image.

  5. I'm fascinated with the color in the sky and overall detail with the buildings. It seems as if the building are viewed overhead.

  6. I love the idea that you have parts that aren't colored/finished and they are there to represent your unfinished goals.

  7. Great piece. The idea and execution is very poetic and I like the way you made the city sky bright and dreamlike. There is nothing bad about your art and I hope to see more future collages from you.
